Free, open to anyone, no skill required. Bring a game, borrow one, or just show up and we'll deal you in.

Every Tuesday 6:30 pm – 10:00 pm Pattern Break Brewing
First time?

What you're walking into.

Twenty-ish friendly people, a few stacks of games on the tables, the smell of hops, somebody explaining the rules to Wingspan for the hundredth time. That's it. That's the whole vibe.

Always free

No membership, no cover, no organizer tips. We just love playing games. Pattern Break hosts us — buy a beer if you want.

All skill levels

Lifelong gamers and total first-timers, side by side every week. Several regulars love teaching — just say 'I'm new.'

Bring or borrow

Plenty of folks bring a stack every Tuesday. You don't have to. If you have a favorite, bring it; if not, jump in.

Solo welcome

Half of our newcomers show up alone. Five minutes later, they're at a table. Walk up, say hi — that's the whole trick.

Pattern Break Brewing

Boulder's revived neighborhood brewery on Foothills Pkwy. Independent, walkable, plenty of room for us to sprawl.

You're invited.
Why we love it here

Boards on the table, brews on the rail.

The whole reason this works is the host. Pattern Break gave us room to spread out, a kitchen that doesn't rush you, and a beer list that makes 7pm feel like an event instead of a Tuesday.

Show up thirsty or full, drinking or not — nobody keeps tabs. But if you grab a pint or split a pizza, you're keeping the space that keeps us going.

What we play

Quick party rounds to four-hour epics.

Every Tuesday's a different lineup — depends who showed up and what they brought. Here's the spread you'll usually see, with a few of our regular hits in each lane.

Quick & social

15–30 min • 4–8 players

Loud, laughy, low-commitment. Great if you're showing up solo or want to break the ice before something heavier hits the table.

Midweight strategy

45–90 min • 2–5 players

The Tuesday-night sweet spot. Real decisions, room to chat, finishes before the brewery clears out.

Meet the table

The regulars who'll wave you over.

These are some of the folks you'll see most Tuesdays. None of them bite, all of them teach. If you're not sure who to talk to — start with whoever's smiling the loudest.

Your first Tuesday

A simple checklist.

Bookmark this, glance at it on your drive over, and the rest is easy.

  1. Roll up between 6:30 and 7pm.Earlier is better if you want in on a heavy game — those tend to start by 7.
  2. Head to the back tables.Look for stacks of boxes, meeples on the table, and people having too much fun for a Tuesday.
  3. Say 'I'm new.'Magic words. Someone will pull up a chair and ask what kind of games you like.
  4. Bring a game — or don't.Either is welcome. If you bring one, it's a great icebreaker; if you don't, there are always extras.
  5. Grab a beer or snack (optional). The brewery is hosting us for free. A pint or some food helps keep this going.
  6. Plan to stay 1–3 hours.Stay for one game and head out, or stick through closing. Whatever fits your night.
Questions we get a lot

FAQ.

Do I need to RSVP?

Nope — just show up. We're at Pattern Break every Tuesday 6:30 to 10pm. If we're full at one table, we grab another.

Is there a cost?

The group is completely free. No membership, no dues, no tipping the organizer. Pattern Break is the host, so we encourage you to grab a beer or some food while you're there.

I've never played 'serious' board games — can I still come?

Yes, and you'll be in good company. Half the table on any given night is learning a new game. Several regulars love teaching — just say 'I'm new, what's good?' when you walk up.

Do I need to bring a game?

Not at all. Plenty of people bring a stack every week. If you have one you love, bring it — fresh games are always welcome.

Is it kid-friendly?

Pattern Break is a brewery, so check their policy on minors — they've historically welcomed families before evening hours. The group itself is all-ages-in-spirit, and the games range from family-friendly to adult-strategy.

Where do you usually sit?

Toward the back of the brewery, around the bigger tables. If you don't see us right away, ask a staff member — they know us. Or just look for the table covered in cardboard boxes and meeples.

I'm coming alone — will I feel weird?

We get solo first-timers every week. The fastest fix: walk up to any table, say hi, ask what they're playing. You'll be dealt in within five minutes.

What if Tuesday is a holiday?

We usually still play unless the brewery is closed. Check the Facebook group for occasional cancellations.
